FRIENDS of Wyeside have created a novel way to raise funds to build a bright future for the Breconshire Arts Centre.

Backers of the Builth Wells Arts hub have announced a new venture to ensure the longevity of its Grade II listed building for future generations – a ‘Sponsor a Stone’ initiative.

Following a successful grant application under Powys County Council’s Community Enablement Capital Grant Scheme, which has been match funded by the”Friends of Wyeside”, work will begin on the exterior of the building within the next few months.

The ‘Sponsor a Stone’ scheme means members of the community who use Wyeside will be able to contribute towards a piece of the restoration by purchasing a ‘gift’ for a loved one this Christmas.

All donations will go towards actual pieces of conservation works, with buyers able to choose their own brick, trefoil or stone.

Local artists have supported the scheme by allowing use of their work to create three gift cards.

Plans of the work, to be conducted by Jonathan Lees Architects, are currently on display in the Wyeside.

Donations can be made at Wyeside Arts Centre during normal opening hours.
