Metal Garden Gate

Often, the first object you come across when approaching a home is a gate. Such items are usually overlooked and sought primarily for security, however, as an item which can often give a first impression to a home, it should not be forgotten. The size, style and materiality of these gates should always be considered in a way that can complement the house to which they reside.
There are several metal gates that we designed for a client’s country house estate garden, all varying slightly in size and configuration depending on the position and use. The gates reflect design details we used on the internal staircase of the main house, which include decorated knewel posts and Soane ‘S’ shaped bars. This attention to detail helps to marry the internal spaces of the house with its external spaces, creating a cohesive design.
The base of the metal posts are decorated with both moulded and cut metal designs. Beech leaves, ferns and dog roses reflect the woodland surrounding the estate, connecting the house to its local context.
